Both Sides and Taking Sides by Paul E. Stawski

download (1)downloadThese are the first two books in a series. I read them back to back in one night. These books will appeal to teens on up to adults.

I received both of these books from the Author through WordSlinger Publicity in exchange for an honest review. The third book to this series is My Side and will be out Summer 2015.

Go read these NOW so you will be ready for the third book when it comes out.

These books are told through Alex’s POV. She is a popular student at school with a great social life, pretty and popular, until she goes on a school trip where she is seriously injured.

Her classmate Sandra, is also seriously injured. Now Sandra, is the complete opposite of Alex. Quiet, bookish, not popular in terms of her peers opinion. You remember how it was in school.

So now the twist…after the accident, Alex’s brain is fine but her body is beyond repair. Sandra’s body is fine, but her brain is beyond function.

In step the Doctors to do a brain transplant of sorts. They do a procedure to put Alex’s brain into Sandra’s body. I really like how the Author handled this, as he makes you stretch your imagination and think outside of the box, yet he makes this procedure seem totally plausible.

Then, Alex has to explore who she really is and of course the parents are fighting over her because to one set of parents she acts and sounds like Alex, yet to the other set of parents she looks like their daughter Sandra.

And during all of this, little bits of Sandra’s thoughts and personality keep slipping in.

Author Paul E. Stawski is an excellent storyteller. It is amazing how well he knows and understands the minds of teenage girls.

These are two books that are incredibly hard not to spill the beans about everything, but I do not want to take the surprises away from you.

There are not any slow or boring parts in these books. You will not be skimming.

I am excited to read the third book in this series when it comes out Summer 2015.
