Amsterdam publishing allowed me to review this book, and I would like to extend my gratitude towards them. 🙂

It is in Italian, so it took me a little longer to read, and I appreciate their patience.

Based on a thorough archival research, the author discovered that the church Sta Maria in Aracoeli in Rome has enjoyed important donations of three Mettei-seperated brethren: Savo, Alessandro and Paolo Mattei, and Savo’s widow Faminia Margani.

Many years, a family dispute concerning their assets and processes have produced a rivalry between the brothers wanting to overcome one another with religious donations. Not only has each one tried to promote its social, but two conditions have also obtained the patronage of a chapel in the church, while Savo was immortalized by his portrayal in the decoration of the apse paid by his widow.

Shortly after, Faminia was killed because of her inherited wealth.

This is one of the most well researched books I have ever read. The photos are beautiful as well.

The tragedy of this true history, is that the brothers and one of their widows never teamed together. Individually they did amazing things, but together it would have been epic.
