How to solicit a book blogger/reviewer and other helpful information.

BREAKING NEWS! SHARE IMMEDIATELY TO ALL SOURCES! 😉

BOOK BLOGGERS/REVIEWERS HAVE A LIFE OUTSIDE OF BOOKS TOO!

Gasp

I know, I know. Hard to believe.

Truth be told, we would love nothing better than to lounge with a book and our favorite beverage and do nothing but read, type out, post and share our reviews all day. Sometimes I myself get lucky enough to do just that, but not often enough.

But, life gets in the way.

So first, please always be understanding and patient. Sometimes you will have a long wait.

Selling books is a marathon, not a sprint.

Okay, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way…

I know you often meet Book bloggers/Reviewers on your social networking. Yes, it seems nice to have such easy access, I mean, you’ve been Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest “friends” for a bit of time, right?

But…this is a very rude way to contact us for a review.

I cannot tell you how many Facebook messages I’ve received of, “Free book for review?”

That’s it.

Look, I have an inbox or messages on my blog full of people asking for reviews. Why would I take the time to go research yours when I don’t even have a title to start searching?

Most Bloggers/Reviewers have Guidelines listed somewhere. Usually on their blog.

If you don’t know, ask.

Ask…ask…ask…

I do not review Romance, Erotica, Paranormal, Horror or Fantasy, and I daily (several times a day), spend a lot of time hitting delete, delete, delete.

Think of your precious time as well.

Why waste your time soliciting someone who does not read your genre?

For example, would you send your Erotica book to a Publisher of Children’s books?

I certainly hope not.

Look, we are here for you. ALL OF YOU, regardless of genre.

But please be thoughtful enough to search for our Guidelines or ask.

Do not automatically attach your book to an e-mail.

I don’t even look at those.

Who are you even? 😉

I want all of you to succeed. People LOVE the genres I don’t read.

Remember one of the biggest rules: FIND YOUR AUDIENCE.

That includes Book Bloggers/Reviewers.

Keep writing! 🙂

~January
