Skyhorse Publishing Submission Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in Skyhorse Publishing. We are open to receiving submissions for proposed books in the following categories:
- Sports (Team and Individual)
- Outdoor Sport (Hunting, Fishing, and Camping)
- Adventure and Travel
- Health and Fitness
- House and Home
- History
- Humor
- Military History
- Business
- Games and Gambling
- Horses
- Pets and Animals
- Nature and Science
- Food and Wine

- Current Events
Before submitting a proposal, we suggest you click around our site and take a look at the kinds of books we’ve published. This will help you gain an idea of what we’re looking for.
A nonfiction book proposal consists of:
- A brief query (cover) letter
- A one-to-two page synopsis
- An annotated chapter outline
- Market analysis, including competitive research
- A sample chapter or two
- Your curriculum vitae (bio) including a list of all previous publishing credits
If we are interested in seeing more than the first 50 pages, we will contact you and request the balance of the manuscript. Therefore, please refrain from submitting unfinished novels.
Send all submissions to: “submissions at skyhorsepublishing dot com”. In the subject line of your submission, please include only oneof the following categories:

NOTE: We will not review any online submissions that do not include one of the above categories in the subject line.
If we are interested, we will get back to you within 4-6 weeks. Unfortunately, due to the volume of queries, we will not be able to respond to everyone.

Submissions
Oceanview Publishing is accepting manuscripts of adult fiction with a primary interest in the mystery/thriller genre. Submissions will be accepted only if they meet one of the following criteria:
- An author represented via a literary agent.
- An author who has previously been published by a traditional publishing house (not self-published or published by a vanity press)
- An author specifically invited by an Oceanview representative or an Oceanview author.
Oceanview representatives often attend mystery and thriller conferences; please refer to Events on our website.
*Please note that we do not accept manuscripts in the following areas: children’s or young adult literature, poetry, memoirs, cookbooks, technical manuals, or short stories.
Submissions should be via e-mail and should follow these guidelines:
Within the body of the e-mail include :
- Agent’s Name, affiliation and contact information.
- Alternatively, the Oceanview contact extending an invitation to submit.
- Author’s name, complete contact information and brief biography
- Manuscript title and word count
- Any ideas on the role of author in promoting and marketing the book
Attached to the e-mail should be the following:
- A synopsis of 750 words or fewer
- The first 30 pages of the manuscript
Please note that we accept only WORD documents as attachments to the submission e-mail. Do not send query letters or proposals. The review process takes approximately 90 days. You will receive a response within 90 days of receipt of the initial submission. Do not contact Oceanview Publishingduring the review process.
Submissions not conforming to these guidelines will not be considered for publication by Oceanview Publishing.
