my mind is BLOWN! “VERITY” by COLLEEN HOOVER

WARNING!  PLEASE READ ALL REVIEWS ON AMAZON  BEFORE READING THIS BOOK. IT IS VERY DISTURBING.

Sexy. Twisted. Consuming. From the #1 New York Times bestselling and award winning author Colleen Hoover comes “standalone romantic thriller that is tragic, creepy, and brilliant!” -Mel Reader Reviews
Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.
Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of the night their family was forever altered.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen’s feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife’s words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

Due to graphic scenes and mature content, this book is recommended for readers 18+.

MY THOUGHTS

My mind is so BLOWN    away by this book I’m not sure I have any thoughts at the moment!

My understanding is that Colleen Hoover is a Romance novelist, and this was a step out of her comfort zone for her!

WOW!

I read this book in one sitting and 24 hours later, I’m still replaying parts of it in my mind!

I CANNOT get this book out of my mind!

I seriously don’t know what to think!

Is Verity as evil as we think? Or is Jeremy the bad one? He seems shady to me.

And Lowen? Is she as innocent as we think?

There were some parts of this book that I read with my jaw totally dropped to my chest.

There were times I had to put the book down for a minute and digest what I just read!

I hate to be obscene on my blogs, but the best word to describe this book is MINDF**K!

You really will think about this book for quite awhile.

Days later, you will still be mulling over it.

Now don’t get me wrong, it has an excellent conclusion.

You are not left hanging, however you are left with questions about things in the story simply because at this point, only the Author knows who is truly the evil one. Or…are there evil ONES?

This book does have some parts that may be difficult for some readers. It is suggested for 18 and up.

However, if you were able to handle the book “YOU” by Caroline Kepnes, you can certainly handle this one!

If you read it, let me know your thoughts and join me on Facebook at the Verity Discussion Group!

The President shoots and kills his wife on live TV while giving a speech to the nation. But…there is more to it than meets the  eye.  Way more!
If you like fast paced thrillers with plenty of twists and turns and non-stop action, I believe you will enjoy this book!
You are  guessing who is behind it all, and which character is good/bad…or both…and who can be trusted.
Be prepared for a lot of surprises!

Golden Eights: the search for Churchill’s lost gold begins again. By: NIGEL SEED

download This is the second novel I have read by Nigel Seed and he continues to impress and satisfy his readers with round rounded characters and  solid story lines.

In this book, Major Wilson (introduced in V4), and his team, go on a mission to find the gold hidden by the British during WWII.

As with V4, this book has a lot of action and twists and turns and surprises.

I look forward to reading more of his work in the future.

My first character crush! Booker T. Adams! My review of: Booker: Streets of Mayhem by John W. Medford

bookerI have never had a character crush, or book boyfriend, but the main character of this book, Booker: Streets of Mayhem, by John W. Medford sure comes close!

He is inter-racial, which leads to a lot of conflict in this book, he is tough as nails, and soft and humorous in all the right places.

Men who read this book will want to be Booker, and the women will want to date him.

I love when books are an excellent fit for both men and women.

I also love when an Author sets a quick scene and then *BAM* takes you right into the action. And once the action starts in this book, it is non-stop!

A bus explosion on just a regular day in Dallas, (for which a white supremist group takes claim), starts this roller-coaster ride, and will keep you guessing the entire time you are reading.

Author, John W. Medford has created a well-rounded and complete character, and the supporting characters are just as complete. The story is solid and every sentence has a purpose and the story flows without a bump, and there isn’t any confusion for the reader.

I will definitely continue reading this series regardless of whether or not I am offered them for review in the future.

I am a happily married 49 year old proud mother of four. A published author of three E books: Broken Trust, Past Sins and Whispering Woods. Working on book number four now. My first book “Broken Trust” was originally published in 2001 and has recently been republished in 2014. I have also written several poems in the past which were published in 2001 in the International Library of Poets book.
Broken trust cover

Broken Trust is a story based upon true events. However, some of the events are fictional. This is Kate’s story about how the “trust” was broken explicitly by the people in her life that she loved and trusted the most. At a young age Kate would learn the hard way how to survive; starting by suffering not only sexual and physical but mental abuse as well by the hands of her father. After suffering years of abuse her father will finally be exploited for the monster that he is. Kate would quickly learn that all but a few of the people that she trusted to help her would quickly turn on her just like her father had said they would. After taking all that she could endure and knowing that it was the only way she could survive, she would try and leave behind all the horrible memories of her father, step-mother and the small town she lived in as she went to live with her real-mother. As she tried to start a new life and trust again Kate found herself in unfamiliar territory as she went from one abusive life to another as she stepped into her real-mothers world of drugs and alcohol. Unexpectedly, she would form a relationship with a boy from her new school. Mike would become a very important part of her life; gradually she would open herself up to him and start to trust again. He would stand by her helping her through some of the most difficult situations that her mother would put her though. There is only so much one can endure though, will he continue to stand by her, or will Mike to break a trust that will devastate her?

From an early age, Steven Hatfield has always been an ambitious person, never letting anything or anyone stand in his way from getting what he wants; not even his own family. Determined to become a partner of the firm, he will commit some of the most horrendous acts against those he feels is standing in his way.

Unbeknownst to Steven, this same stranger that helped him to win the case that took him to the top of his career, will set into motion a spiral of events that will cause Steven’s “Past Sins” to catch up to him.

The eerie darkness from the pitfall of trees that surrounded Daniel’s home sent a shiver down his spine. He knew that there was something horrible going on deep within the woods; something so evil that he dared not to step a foot beyond the trees. Every now and then when the wind blew, he swore that he could hear the sounds of drums and what he believed to be a chanting noise drifting in the air. Arising from the porch swing; he quickly retreated back into the safety of his home. Daniel could not help but to wonder if he had made a mistake by coming here. Six months ago to the date he had lost his wife and child in a car accident then three weeks ago he was contacted by the lawyer informing him that his grandmother had passed away. He soon learned that he was the last surviving heir of the Mc George clan; he had been left everything, including this strange farmhouse house that was in dire need of repair. He had been there less than twenty-four hours and already he missed the smog and noisy city that he had left behind. As he reached over and turned out the light he wondered what this quiet little town in Owsley Kentucky held in store for him.

Whispering Woods by K.D. Wilson -a thriller impossible to put down.

bb51f8765a7452241b28b6f1d04ca395c4c1cf6a-thumbThe woods whisper and so do the townspeople, but why?

Daniel McGeorge loses his wife and children in a car accident, and a few weeks later his Grandmother dies, leaving him a home near these spooky woods.

Needing a change, Daniel decides to live there but curious things start happening immediately.

A diary and map belonging to his deceased Mother provides clues, but a letter left by his Grandmother sets things into motion.

Should Daniel and his new friend Sarah Jane flee, or do they stay and confront the truth and make things right in this little town?

I do not like to give ANY spoilers in my reviews, and this book is one which is difficult to keep all the thrilling events to myself.

Brilliantly strange and fascinating, this thriller is impossible to put down.

My review of Past Sins by K.D. Wilson

Screenshot_2014-09-17-18-29-11-1I love when an author sets the scene in a few paragraphs and then takes me on a non-stop ride.

Lawyer, Steven Hatfield is a very bad guy. Yes, he is excellent at his career, but he did whatever it took to become successful. And no, I’m not talking law firm backstabbing and “losing” files, this man committed death penalty crimes. He committed some of the same crimes his clients committed.

This book is a story within a story and will leave you guessing on things until the very end.

And remember…past sins can and will catch up with you.

This is the second book I have read by K.D. Wilson, and she continues to satisfy this picky reader by writing strong, solid and interesting stories.

This book can be purchased at Smashwords:  ISBN: 9781466186620

The weather is turning cooler and you know you need some good books to read during the chilly evenings!
